WMWC Meter / Backflow Device / End-Point Installation Lottery Dates by Street Address
Willowside Mutual Water Company (WMWC) has begun to implement a program to update the system and monitor for water leakage by mandating that all new shareholders must install a back flow preventer and water meter at their service box. The back flow preventer will prevent cross contamination of the water system. The meter will allow monitoring for water leaks on the shareholder's property.
Installation of the back flow preventer and water meter is encouraged for current shareholders, and mandated at home sale or change of Title per our rules and regulations. If you need more information please contact us by phone or email.
WMWC will cover the cost of the back flow preventer and water meter and the shareholder is required to pay the cost of the installation.
New System Evaluation
The WMWC board of directors (BoD) has selected and installed a cellular metering system to read and report water usage. The decision to begin a transition to a metered or pay-for-use system was made some time back. Over one third of or members already have meters installed on their service line. If you would like to have a meter and back flow preventer installed, please contact WMWC for more information.
The BoD reviewed two different options for cellular meters and selected Badger meters for an evaluation period of one year. Twenty-five cellular meter readers have been or are in the process of being installed. All seven current BoD members had had these cellular meters installed at their own properties. The installation process does not impact water service to the members property. The cellular reader send a report four times each day that lasts approximately one second or less. The board thoughtfully selected homes throughout the neighborhood that were on different streets throughout the neighborhood, made up of different sized families or households, different lot sizes, homes that have ADU's, homes that are owner occupied, homes that are rented, homes with pools, and homes without pools. There is an app available for download for those properties that have a cellular meters installed. Of the homes that have had a cellular meter readers installed, 25% have had leaks detected via the new meter reading system. If you already have a water meter, and would like to know if your property was one that had a meter reader installed, please contact WMWC by calling (707) 536-1250.
As a reminder, the meter, back flow preventer, meter reader, service box, etc, are property of WMWC. Any tampering with or damage to property of WMWC may be punishable by fines including and up to disconnecting water service. Penal Code section 498 (c)(2) may also be applicable.
